What is a bank statement loan?

A bank statement loan calculates your qualifying income from deposits in your bank statements rather than tax returns. For self-employed real estate investors who write off significant business expenses, this almost always results in higher qualifying income — and a bigger loan.

We use either 12 or 24 months of personal or business statements. Underwriters average eligible deposits and apply an expense factor to arrive at a qualifying income figure.
